Convened from 3-6 August 2010 in Port Vila, Republic of Vanuatu, the Pacific Civil Society Assembly was part of the regional preparation activities towards the upcoming UN Global Summit on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in New York in September 2010 and the Fourth UN Conference on Least Developed Countries (LDCs) in Istanbul in May 2011;
The Assembly was organized by LDC Watch, in association with the United Nations Millennium Campaign (UNMC) and the United Nations Office of the High Representative for Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Islands States (OHRLLS); and brought together participants from Kiribati, Samoa,Solomon Islands, Tuvalu and Vanuatu, as well as the participation of national and regional CBOs, CSOs and NGOs.
Moreover, the Assembly was hosted by the Vanuatu Association of Non Government Organizations (VANGO), the Vanuatu Indigenous Peoples Forum (VIP-Forum) and supported by the Vanuatu Government which officiated the opening and the closing ceremonies of the Assembly;
