The Latin American regional review meeting was organized by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean and UN-OHRLLS in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on 30 June 2008. The meeting was attended by representatives of the two landlocked developing countries of the region and five transit neighbours. The Inter-American Development Bank, the Andean Development Corporation and the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences of Argentina were also represented, together with a number of technical experts. The meeting discussed the challenges faced by the landlocked and transit developing countries in South America in establishing efficient transit transport systems. The results of the consultation of regional experts in infrastructure, transport, logistics and traden and transport facilitation were also presented.  Presentations were made on regional initiatives for the physical integration of landlocked and transit developing countries were made, including the Initiative on Regional Infrastructure Integration in South America (IIRSA).
